The reuse of the former Sargfabrik in Atzgersdorf as a “Creative Complex”: culture, workshops, production, music studios and gastronomy under one roof. NEST supported Soravia in 2017/18 with use research and a two-day workshop within the tender process.
For the listed former Sargfabrik on Gastgebgasse, a reuse concept as a “Creative Complex” for music and the cultural and creative industries was developed within the tender run by wohnfonds_wien. The historic spatial structure remains legible; the former production areas are given new uses.
The programme included a culture room (Tapezier-Zimmer), open workshops and a technology lab (ZusammenBau), a production line for prototypes and series (Fertigungsstraße), music studios and rehearsal rooms in the basement (Magazin), a living lab, a gastronomy area (Prägerei), a children’s area (E-Werk), a market square for flea markets and parties (Brücken-Waage) and a machine hall for sport and robotics. NEST supported Soravia with a database analysis of space requirements and users as well as a two-day workshop.
