Freiham Nord is one of Munich’s large urban development areas. Commissioned by the City of Munich, a consortium of nutzeffekt, NEST and Studio Vlay Streeruwitz examined how non-residential uses on ground floors can support a lively quarter.

The final report of 18 October 2018 is conceived as a handbook: it combines an analysis of the existing situation with interviews and on-site observations, a spatial vision for the main axes and the “strong corners”, and thirteen action packages — from quality-assuring procedures and design guidelines through a neighbourhood advisory board and new forms of organisation to a space-matching platform and cross-financing models.
